PhD in Environmental Sciences with a focus on the ecological dynamics of vertebrate fauna in relation to anthropogenic impact and climate change.
During my university training I was involved in investigating the relations between the use of space by wild mammals and the modifications of the anthropic landscape after the Second World War in the central Apennine hilly-mountainous territory, with a focus on the management/planning of Protected Areas, Road Ecology and territorial fragmentation/defragmentation.
During my PhD period, on the other hand, I focused on the investigation and spatial modelling of the central Apennine herpetofauna: starting from presence data over the last two centuries, acquiring new field data and projecting future distribution scenarios as a function of climate change forecasts, in order to identify strategic lines of protection for these animals.
Subsequently, I was able to apply my acquired knowledge in the field, having worked within the management body of a number of Abruzzo Regional Nature Reserves, with duties of scientific research, fauna monitoring (mainly terrestrial mammals, bats, birds, amphibians, reptiles and freshwater fish) and environmental educator.
Other work experience has been in the field of Environmental Impact Assessments, particularly with regard to Biodiversity and VIncA, thanks to my collaboration with ISPRA for the drafting of thematic reports to support the Ministerial Commission on EIA.
I currently conduct research on transitional, aquatic and terrestrial environments, particularly in terms of data production, focusing on ecological modelling and the application of eScience technologies.
