The S.T.R.E.T.S. (Science Technology Research for Ethical Engagement Translated in Society) project is the name of one of the Italian projects supported by the European Commission for the realization of the European Researchers’ Night.
STREETS is a consortium coordinated by the University of Naples “Federico II,” which involves the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli,” the University of Cassino and Lazio Meridionale, the University of Naples “L’Orientale,” the University of Salerno, CREO – Rete degli Istituti Campani del CNR and Le Nuvole – a Neapolitan cultural and creative enterprise. It also has the support of the University of Sannio and the collaboration of a dense network of public bodies, schools and private companies.
The project is based on the conviction that science, technology, and research have a strong impact on our society, in all its branches and declinations, and it is important to restore a proper relationship between the elements involved, also rediscovering the ethical aspects that regulate the relations between science and society for a shared well-being.
It is precisely for this reason that STREETS tends to bring research and researchers closer to the outside world, particularly the world of schools, helping to promote research projects of excellence and raise the general public’s awareness of the importance and benefits of research and innovation, concretely showing its impact on the daily lives of citizens.
Falling within this perspective is a series of four educational meetings (Feb. 23, Feb. 29 and March 8,14, 2024) for 3rd grade students of the State Middle School “F. D’Ovidio-E. Nicolardi” in Naples.
The next one, to be held on Feb. 29, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Research Area of Naples 1, will involve researchers from various CNR Institutes (IRET, IBBC, ISASI, IBB) who will illustrate methodological approaches to research activities capable of developing curiosity and interest in young students.
