Urban forests can make European cities more livable during the heat waves that increasingly characterize the climate. That is the central focus of an article published in the journal Nature by Theodore A. Endreny, visiting professor at the National Research Council’s Institute for Terrestrial Ecosystem Research and professor at the State University of New York. Urban greencooling services, the publication says, are particularly needed in Europe’s most vulnerable environments, the same environments least served by these essential services.
