National Workshop: “Remediation, Environmental Restoration, and Land Development – Experiences on Phytoremediation and Phytomanagement”

Arpa Umbria and RemTech Expo (Ferrara Fiere), in collaboration with the IRSA (Institute for Water Research) and IRET (Institute for Research on Terrestrial Ecosystems) of the CNR, are organizing a workshop aimed at updating the framework of project and application experiences developed in Italy in the fields of phytoremediation and phytomanagement.

Phytotechnologies applied to the remediation of contaminated sites are increasingly attracting interest both among professionals and public administrators.

There are more and more practical cases where the use of plants proves to be a valid alternative to traditional technologies for managing environmental pollution, demonstrating greater economic and social sustainability, as well as multiple environmental benefits.

Workshop Objectives

The workshop, titled “Remediation, Environmental Restoration, and Land Development: Experiences on Phytoremediation and Phytomanagement”, aims to:

  • Provide tools to evaluate the applicability and quality of interventions based on phytotechnologies.
  • Promote technical updates and the sharing of information on a national scale.
  • Review monitoring strategies applied to sites treated with phytotechnologies.
  • Assess administrative/authorization issues related to the procedures.
  • Encourage debate among sector operators to identify new intervention strategies based on the valorization and conservation of natural resources.

Event Details

The event is part of Isola Prossima, held at Isola Polvese on Lake Trasimeno (Castiglione del Lago, PG), from September 8th to 10th.
The workshop will take place on September 9th, from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, with registration starting at 9:00 AM.

General Program:
During the session, case studies of remediation, safety, and monitoring through phytotechnologies will be presented, describing fully developed (issues, solutions, authorization processes, challenges faced, and results achieved) or pilot phase projects (issues, solutions found, and preliminary results). A poster session will be dedicated to presenting research projects and innovative technologies. Abstracts of oral and poster presentations will be available on the RemTech Expo website.
