The key purpose of environment and human health research activities are primarily aimed at preventing and/or counteracting the impact of environmental (mis)management on human health and related diseases. An integrated, multidisciplinary approach can be used to achieve these goals:
– by using in vitro and in vivo model systems to study the effects of bioactive molecules on metabolic pathways and/or genetic and/or epigenetic factors;
– by designing and synthesizing, through new technologies, innovative micro-nanostructured “drug delivery” platforms capable of improving the bioavailability and thus the efficacy of biomolecules.
By addressing the needs of individuals and communities, established results will contribute to developing and implementing biomedical research in the field of personalized and precision medicine to enhance human health and wellbeing.
