IRET’s Florence office (670 m2) is included in the CNR Research Area of Florence (>23,000 m2), located within the University Science Hub in Sesto Fiorentino (FI). The Area is equipped with a conference center with three classrooms and three meeting rooms equipped with audio-video systems, cafeteria and bar and is capable of hosting international events.

IRET in Florence conducts basic and applied research on the structure and functioning of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, including in light of global changes and impacts induced by anthropogenic pressures. The activities conducted are aimed at expanding and disseminating scientific knowledge about the aforementioned ecosystems and providing support to agencies responsible for their protection and environmental restoration. In particular, IRET Florence provides support to territorial and decision-making bodies for the management of urban green, agroecosystems and forests, for the protection from air pollution, soil and groundwater, and for the management and enhancement of animal, microbial and plant biodiversity.
