On May 24-25-26, 2024, the event “DMED – Salone della Dieta Mediterranea 2024” was held at NEXT – Nuova Esposizione Ex Tabacchificio in Capaccio-Paestum (SA).
At the Salon, in addition to the exhibition of excellent products and tastes of the land and sea, good agricultural and food practices were presented with wide participation in scientific and institutional talks.
As part of the PNNR project – National Center for Biodiversity – Spoke 7 “Biodiversity and society: communication, education and social impact,” IRET-Section of Naples participated in the event with the activity entitled “Biodiversity on the Plate.” It was illustrated and demonstrated with small practical operations how the protection of biodiversity is of fundamental importance for achieving a sustainable future. With this in mind, food biodiversity, understood as the biodiversity of plants, animals and everything that makes up our food, contributes in multiple ways to a healthy and diverse diet, helping us to make informed food choices that take into account not only human health but also that of the environment in which we live.
