In the Mass Spectrometry laboratory, isotopic ratios of light elements (C, H, N, S, O) are measured and analyzed on samples of organic and inorganic origin. The matrices analyzed can be in solid, liquid (aqueous, colloidal and viscous) and gaseous forms. The laboratory is equipped with a mass spectrometer (IRMS), which allows the determination of isotopic ratios of C, H, N, S, O; a GHG (greenhouse gases analyzer) system for handling gaseous samples and trace elements; an elemental analyzer the quantitative and isotopic determination of carbon and nitrogen in aqueous matrices; and an Nd:YAG laser ablation system configured for isotopic measurements with IRMS.
