The laboratory develops new multifunctional indicators of the soil-plant system by proposing an integrated ecophysiological approach for the assessment of ecosystem resilience to stress factors (e.g. drought, salinity, high and low temperatures, metals, organic pollutants) and the restoration and sustainable use of degraded ecosystems. To this end, information relating to morphophysiological and biochemical characteristics of plants (e.g. morphostructural, physiological and biochemical leaf traits associated with the photosynthetic apparatus functionality, primary and secondary metabolism, water, light and nutrient resource use efficiency) are related and combined with the physical, chemical and biological soil properties.
Relevant instrumentation
